Catherine McAuley had a large team of students who competed at the PDSSSC Athletics Carnival this week on Tuesday, 9th August.
The Parramatta Diocese Secondary Schools Sports Council (PDSSSC) Athletics Carnival sees students from across Catholic schools in the Parramatta Diocese compete against each other. Catherine McAuley did exceptionally well!
The list below shows the results of those students who placed 4th and above. There were many students who still performed extremely well as they placed in the top 5th to 8th in their events. The school is also still waiting on results from some of the long jump and triple jump events.
- The Junior Relay Team placed 1st - Jasmine S (Yr 7), Evonne S (Yr 7), Madison X (Yr 8) and Clara F (Yr 7)
- The Intermediate Relay Team placed 1st - Bailey S (Yr 8), Delphine F (Yr 9), Ana Maria C (Yr 10) and Jasmine E-N (Yr 9)
- Georgia A (Yr 7) placed 3rd in the 13 years Discus
- Jasmine S (Yr 7) placed 4th in 13 years 100m
- Evonne S (Yr 7) placed 4th in 13 years 200m
- Erin M (Yr 8) placed 2nd in the 14 years Javelin and 4th in Discus
- Bailey S (Yr 8) placed 3rd in the 14 years 100m. Bailey achieved a new PB
- Raquel T (Yr 8) placed 3rd in 14 years 1500m and 4th in the 800m
- Jasmine E-C (Yr 9) placed 4th in the 14 years 100m
- Elana R (Yr 9) placed 2nd in the 15 years 1500m and 800m
- Tasha R (Yr 10) placed 2nd in the 15 years Discus and 2nd in Javelin
- Madison D (Yr 11) placed 4th in the 17+ years 800m
- Clare G (Yr 11) placed 3rd in the 16 years Shotput
- Jasmine D (Yr 11) placed 3rd in the 17+ years Shotput
- Natasha M (Yr 12) placed 4th in 17+ years 100m and 2nd in 17+ 400m
- Sam T (Yr 10) placed 2nd in 15 years 1500m Walk
- Chelsey T (Yr 11) placed 3rd in 17+ years 1500m Walk

The students listed below will progress through to represent Parramatta Diocese at the NSWCCC (NSW Combined Catholic Colleges) Athletics Championships for the following events:
- Annisha R (Yr 7) placed 1st in the 12 years Shotput, Discus and Javelin events. Annisha broke two records at this carnival - 12 years Javelin with a new record of 30.92m and 12 years Discus with a new record of 41.45m (the previous record was a Catherine McAuley student from 2008)
- Clara F (Yr 7) placed 1st in 12 years 100m and 200m
- Bailey S (Yr 8) placed 2nd in the 14 years 200m
- Delphine F (Yr 9) placed 1st in the 15 years High Jump. She achieved a new PB
- Samantha T (Yr 10) placed 2nd in the 15 years 1500m walk
- Natasha M (Yr 12) placed 2nd in 17+ years 200m

CSDA PUBLIC SPEAKING 🗣🗣 Last Friday, Catherine McAuley hosted the first round of the Catholic Schools Debating Association Public Speaking competition. Our school hosted 11 different Catholic schools from around Sydney. Catherine McAuley had 12 students take part from Years 7 through to Year 12 with five students making it through to the Qualifying Final to be held this coming Friday at Our Lady of Mercy College. Well done to all students who took part and good luck to those competing again this Friday.

WELCOME YEAR 7 PARENTS! 🥰 Yesterday afternoon the school welcomed Year 7 parents to the school for the Year 7 Welcome Afternoon. There was a large number of families in attendance and it was lovely to see Year 7 students showing their families around the school. Parents had the opportunity to meet their daughter’s Homeroom Teacher, as well as some of her subject teachers. Thank you to the members of the Parents and Carers Group who also helped welcome parents, the Music students who provided a lovely soundtrack and the Year 11 students who assisted with serving food and welcoming parents.
