Congratulations to all students who participated in the PDSSSC Athletics Carnival last Wednesday. The following students will be advancing to the NSWCCC Carnival on 16th September:
- Annisha R. who will be entering the 14 girls discus, shot put and javelin events.
- Bailey S. who will be entering the 200m and 100m dash events.
- Clara F. who will be entering the 14 girls 200m and 100m dash. At the PDSSSC carnival, Clara broke the 200m dash record. The record was 26.40 seconds and Clara ran it in 25.81 seconds.

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS ➡️ Year 8 History students spent today attending an interactive medieval session as part of their study of Medieval Europe. The students learnt about life at this time with a particular focus on the many key events that took place. A highlight for the students is always the opportunity to dress up in medieval dress and learn about the weapons used in battle.

CLASS OF 2024 🤩 Year 12 students gathered this morning for their second last Year assembly led by Mrs Cowling, Leader of Wellbeing Year 12. The students will have their final assembly next week. Today they were reminded that although their school journey has almost come to an end the HSC is still ahead of them. Students were told about all the activities happening over the coming days with next week sure to be a very busy week for the students.

Congratulations to Shenaya N. and Irene M. who have both been awarded for their entries into the 2024 Diocese of Parramatta Kids’ Voices Art Competition. 🎨 This is the first art competition for children run by the Diocese with participants asked to share their voice using their artistic skills to answer the question, “What makes you feel safe in your Church community?” Shenaya was the winner of the People’s Choice for Group 2 and Irene was awarded an Encouragement Award. Both students will attend an awards ceremony next month.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS 👏👏👏 Well done to Year 8 students Jillian D.B. and Crystal M. who both competed last Thursday in the Carlingford Lions Club Voice of Youth competition. This competition is open to Years 7 and 8 students and asks them to prepare and present a speech, as well as deliver an impromptu speech. Mr Thomas Fraser, HSIE Teacher and Public Speaking/Debating Coordinator said both Jillian and Crystal did exceptionally well but unfortunately did not gain a place.

PDSSSC ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS 🥇 On Wednesday the 4th of September, 25 students attended the PDSSSC Athletics Championships, and they had a fantastic day with several standout performances: - Clara F. set a new record in the 14s 200m sprint with a time of 25.81 seconds. - The intermediate 4x100m relay team, featuring Tanisha S., Evonne S., Maria K. and Clara F. took 1st place. - Anisha R. achieved 1st place in both the 15s Discus and Shot Put events. - Many students also secured 2nd and 3rd places in their respective events. All students who placed first in their event will progress to the NSWCCC Carnival. CAREER BREAKFAST 😀 Thank you to the four ex Catherine McAuley students from the Class of 2017 who returned to school this morning for the ‘Digital Tech and Law’ Career Breakfast. They are now all forging ahead in their careers in either law or digital technology. Katarina Di Constanzo and Tiana-Jade Atkinson are both working in law and Jocelyn Tong and Janina Osinsao are both working in digital technology. The former students answered a series of questions posed by Ms Xuereb, Leader of Learning Pathways and Partnerships and advised students on not only how to pursue a career in these areas but general advice on time management and negotiating study and the workforce in an area often dominated by men.
