YEAR 7 😀 Year 7 students have this week been invited to join Year 12 Leaders for a chance to relax, meet some new friends and enjoy a chill lunch! An initiative of the Hospitality Leaders the Year 7 students can join in on a variety of board and card games.

ALL INVITED TO THE TERM 1 PARENTS & CARERS MEETING 😀 Bring a friend!! A Parents & Carers meeting is held once a term and is an opportunity for parents to be informed of what is happening at the school. The School Principal gives a term update at each meeting covering all aspects of the school and parents have the chance to ask questions. Meetings also give parents the opportunity to meet other parents and the Parents and Careers Group Committee.

Year 11 Students Gain The Skills and Knowledge For An Effective Start To The Year
The return to school for Year 11 was a day filled with energy, connecting with each other after what was a long time apart for many of the girls, and gaining the skills and knowledge for the most effective start to Year 11 and senior studies.

TERM 1 TEMPORARY RECEPTION ‼️ Due to construction work on the site of the Westmead Catholic Community Catherine McAuley has set up a temporary reception area. During Term 1 only, visitors may access the temporary reception area via Gate 3 between the hours of 9.00am - 2.00pm. Access to Gate 3 will be via telephoning the number listed on the gate. Parents may use this temporary reception area to drop off items for their daughters, where they come to collect their daughters for necessary appointments during school hours, where they come for a meeting with a teacher, or for other reasons. To access the usual Catherine McAuley Reception parents may park at the Westmead Public Hospital parking facility across the street or in nearby surrounding streets and access the reception area through the Gate 2 pedestrian gate. For Term 1 there is no parking at Gate 2 due to construction.

WELCOME BACK ALL STUDENTS 😀 All students returned to school today and were welcomed by Ms Refalo, School Principal, at the assembly held this morning. The School Captains also welcomed all students and the Year 7 students joined in the school song for the first time. The School Captains reminded the students of the school theme for 2025 - ‘Strive For The 5’. The ‘5’ represents the five Mercy values of Justice, Excellence, Hospitality, Courage and Integrity. The slogan, which the student leaders developed to demonstrate the school theme, is chanted before the school song. WELCOME BACK YEAR 11 🥳 🥳 Welcome back to Year 11 students who returned to school today! The students spent the day listening to a number of presentations which examined items such as HSC requirements, how to best use library resources, how to look after their wellbeing and how to prepare for life beyond school.

The Student Leaders assisted the Year 7 students by showing them around the school, helped with reading the school timetable, how to operate the locks for the school lockers, organised getting to know you games and much more. 🙌 🙌

LOCKS AND LOCKERS! 🔒 Year 7 are always very excited to receive their school lockers! The locks were a bit fiddly for some but once the locks were sorted the lockers were assigned and the Year 7 students were able to begin to use them. Students don’t carry their bags around the school site but instead keep all items in their locker, returning to the locker throughout the day as needed.

WELCOME YEAR 7!! 🥳 🥳 A very special welcome to the Year 7 students who joined the Catherine McAuley Westmead community today. 🙌 A special welcome also to new students in Years 8 - 11. 🥳 Today, after gathering in Mercy Square this morning, the Year 7 students have spent time in their Homeroom groups learning how to use their student planner, how to work the locks for their lockers and where their locker is located. The students enjoyed some getting to know you games and spent time with the Year 12 Student Leaders who explained the school timetable. The Student Leaders gave the Year 7 students a tour of the school to visit all the classrooms on their timetable. School Co Captain Emily G. advised students that they shouldn’t be afraid to ask someone if they get lost. “Many of the Year 7 students are worried about getting lost but they shouldn’t be,” Emily said. “Always ask for help! There are so many students around who will help you.”
