The Year 11 Legal Studies Team who competed in this year’s Kirby Cup Competition was placed as Runners Up in the final against James Ruse Agricultural High School.
The Kirby Cup is an inter school competition for Western Sydney students interested in Law. This year the competition theme was, ‘First Nation Voice to Parliament Referendum’.
Students were tasked to create a project aligned to this theme and Catherine McAuley had one team win within their category of submission for the analytical component. This team progressed to the final which took place on Monday, 26th June at Western Sydney University Parramatta.
Miss Spelman, HSIE Teacher, who accompanied the students said that the students performed very well on the day and were commended for their efforts.
“The students were particularly honoured to meet The Hon. Michael Kirby (whom the competition is named after) and who served as a judge in the final.
“We are very proud of the efforts of these girls and want to recognise all the time and effort they put into this competition”, said Miss Spelman.
In recognition of their efforts all students on the team have received a conditional offer to study Law at Western Sydney University. The finalist team consisted of: Alyssa A., Charlotte M., Samantha T. and Rihana B.
