Class of 2016 Catherine McAuley Student Announced As The NSW Rhodes Scholar-Elect For 2024
Former school captain Annalise Awkar, Class of 2016, has been announced as the NSW Rhodes Scholar-Elect for 2024. Annalise is one of nine Australian scholars selected by the NSW Selection Committee, chaired by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales.
The University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and one of the most prestigious international scholarship programs. It is a fully funded, full-time, postgraduate award. Scholars are chosen based on their exceptional intellect, character, leadership and commitment to service.
Annalise has completed a Bachelor of Security Studies and a Bachelor of Media and Communications at Macquarie University and intends to complete a Master of Science in Sociology and a Master of Science in Social Science of the Internet at the University of Oxford.
Annalise said that being selected as the 2024 NSW Rhodes Scholar Elect is a privilege and honour that she never imagined was possible. “This would not have been achievable without the incredible community of support surrounding me…I am still processing the prospect of heading to Oxford, but I can’t wait for the journey ahead and to give back to our community”.
