The Year 12 students were presented with a bracelet as their graduation gift from the school.
The Year 12 students were presented with a gift from the school at the Year 12 final assembly on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.
Each Year 12 student was presented with a bracelet. This bracelet was designed by members of staff as part of the Mercy 5 Staff Formation Project. “The bracelets take the form of a circle which has no start or end point and is a symbol of eternity”, Ms Banks, Director of Catholic Identity and Mission, told the students at the assembly.
The circle is a symbol of unity, we are all equal in the eyes of God.
Ms Banks explained that the bracelets recognise the Irish heritage of our patroness Venerable Catherine McAuley as each bracelet is engraved with ‘trocaire’, the Irish word for Mercy. “For these young women of Mercy, as they graduate from school, the bracelet symbolises that they belong to the wider Circle of Mercy”, Ms Banks said.
“As the Year 12 graduates wear their bracelets may they remember the words from our school hymn, The Circle of Mercy - ‘That the Circle of Mercy is timeless’. May they journey through life living out the mercy values and continue to strive for higher things”.

Late last term 13 Year 9 students attended the Mercy 5 Junior Forum held at Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College in North Sydney. The students participated in activities that looked at water scarcity throughout the world, with the main theme the Mercy value of Stewardship. One of the activities was a filtration experiment where the students learnt firsthand how difficult it can be to purify water in areas facing water scarcity. The students said this activity helped them appreciate how vital clean water is and how limited access to it can affect people’s day to day lives. 💦💦

Congratulations to Ryan House who are the winners of the Catherine McAuley House Cup for 2024! 🩷🩷🩷 The House Cup was presented at the Year 12 Farewell Assembly held in the Morley Centre on Wednesday, 25th September. The House Cup is awarded to the House who has collected the most House points throughout the year. Points are obtained in a number of ways including House competitions, sports carnival results and merit certificates and awards received by students throughout the year. The Catherine McAuley Graduation Mass was held last night, Tuesday 24th September 2024 at St Patrick's Cathedral, Parramatta. Students were joined by their families for a 'comfortable cup of tea' in the Cloister at the Cathedral following Mass. ⛪️
