The school continues to celebrate the outstanding achievements in Science with the International Chemistry Quiz results celebrated at the school assembly this week.

The International Chemistry Quiz is a challenge taken by tens of thousands of students across the country and internationally each year. This year, 75 students from Years 9 and 10 were nominated by their Science teachers to participate, as were the Year 11 Chemistry students.

The quiz required students to tackle complex problems, think critically, and apply their knowledge to new concepts - all vital thinking skills that will serve them well in the future.

To be awarded a credit you had to achieve 70 - 80%, a distinction you had to achieve 80 - 90%, and a high distinction you had to achieve 90 - 100%.

The following students were awarded their certificate at the school assembly. Those students who achieved a credit will be awarded their certificates at the House assembly.

Intermediate Division 1 - Year 9

Also recognised at the school assembly were the three Year 10 students who competed in the Australian Brain Bee Challenge. The Brain Bee Challenge is a competition for high school students in Year 10 designed to help the students learn about the brain and its functions, learn about neuroscience research, find out about careers in neuroscience and to dispel misconceptions about neurological and mental illnesses.

Congratulations to Louise R., Morgan D. and Heidi K. who made it into the top 60 in the State and were then invited to compete in the individual NSW State Finals and represented the school in the group event.
