The Year 7 Reflection Day was held at St Patrick's Cathedral on Tuesday, 19th November 2024.
Year 7 experienced their first Reflection Day at St Patrick's Cathedral, Parramatta on Tuesday, 19th November.
Students explored what the Mercy Value of Hospitality means to the Catherine McAuley community. In his address to the students, Fr Robert Riedling, Dean and Administrator of the Cathedral and Episcopal Vicar for Education, highlighted the Gospel connections to Hospitality through different occasions in Jesus' life.
The day provided students with opportunities to work independently and collaboratively as they deepened their understanding of Hospitality. Students joined with the Cathedral parishioners for Mass which was celebrated by Fr Robert. For some students this was their first visit to St Patrick's Cathedral and after lunch Mrs Malek spoke about the history of St Patrick's and the beautiful liturgical artworks. It was a wonderful community day for Year 7 to gain a greater appreciation of what it means to be a Mercy Girl.
Thank you to the staff who supported Year 7, Mrs Rehayem, Ms Banks, Ms McGlone, Ms Radisavljevic, Mrs Flynn, Miss Pasion, Mr Nguyen and Mr Pineda. Special thanks to Mrs Jarosevski who was not able to be present on the day but composed a beautiful prayer for the students.
